[GUIDE] How to start off on Hypixel Skyblock (2024)

Hi everyone, this guide is for the new players of Skyblock. I will go over how to get started, how to progress and other helpful tips!

You log in.

First Actions:

You will have spawned on your island. Chop down all the wood on the tree which will unlock your first foraging level. Craft the logs into planks, and bridge to the other island with the planks you get.

As soon as you join the lobby, talk to all of the villagers. Some may be tricky to find, but you will find them eventually!
You then want to run to the Farm, which is on the right of the big building you first face. You're going to want to start harvesting wheat for about 5 minutes to make a little bit of money (5k is enough for now). Once done, deposit your coins at the Bank which is on your left.

After you've completed this task, head over to the Mining merchant which is on the left of the big building you are facing. Purchase 3 gold ingots and trade a Golden Pickaxe. Next, go to the Weapon Merchant and buy an Undead Sword. This will help you to battle mobs.

Run over to the mine and start mining all the coal that you see. You can mine the cobble stone, too, but that gives less Mining EXP. Mine until Mining Level I and go into the Portal further into the Coal Mine which says: 'Travel To the Gold Mine".

Gold Mine:

Once you've arrived at the gold mine, run straight until you see the 'Lazy Miner'. Right click him and find his Pickaxe. The pickaxe is deep in the mine, but you can get a YouTube tutorial to find it.

Good News, you get to keep his pickaxe! Start mining all the ores in the caves until you unlock Mining Level V. Once completed, craft yourself some Iron Armour in the menu. Run back up to the start of the gold mine, and head straight. You will find the Portal to the Deep Caverns. Go into it.

Deep Caverns:

Welcome to the Deep Caverns. This is where you are going to be spending a lot of time throughout Early Game.

You will first want to go to the Lift Operator in the Caves on the right. Talk to him and venture down into the Mines. If you are lazy, you can do a simple trick which saves the time it takes to explore every cave. You want to go to the left of the portal.

Then, you have to jump right in-between certain blocks to unlock each and every cave in the Deep Caverns.

Make sure you don't have coins on you, for this.

Deeper into the Deep Caverns:

Travel to the Diamond Reserve and mine yourself 24 diamonds. This is so you can make a diamond armour set. Travel back up until the Lapis Quarry. Start killing the Lapis Zombies for a chance to get Lapis Armour pieces. If you are lazy like me, you can mine a little more wheat and purchase the full set on the Auction House. Once this has been completed, head over back to the hub.

First Reforges:

Near the left of the Coal Mine at the hub, you will see a Black Smith. He will ask you for 10 pieces of coal for your first reforge. Mine the coal and reforge your sword with the coal. After this, you have to switch to using money to reforge. Take out the money from your bank and come back. Once you've done that, try to get the Sharp reforge on your undead sword. This is best for Damage and Crit Chance. Also reforge your Lapis armour that you either grinded for or bought to the Fierce Reforge.

Last Tips:

- Make sure to unlock the Bazaar which is next to the bank by getting Foraging, Mining and Farming to level 7.

- Mine wheat for your money until you unlock Combat 12 to unlock the End Island.

More Info

Critical Damage and Strength affect your damage.
Strength is your base damage.
Critical Damage is your base damage multiplayer.
You can buy dragon fragments at the bazaar, which can craft Dragon Armours.
